Children's Department
The Children's Department has fiction and non-fiction for school assignments and leisure reading and picture books for younger children. Educational computer games are available for use on the Library's computer. Bedtime stories, storytimes for babies, toddlers and preschoolers, summer reading programs, book writing contests and entertainment and instructional programs for children and their families are offered.
Friends of Jeanes Memorial Library
The Friends of the William Jeanes Library group was established in 1950. Since that time the organization has been a vital force in supplementing Library funding. Donations received through the annual membership drive and proceeds generated by used book sales have enabled the Friends to support Library services in many ways. We have augmented the purchase of new technology, books, and other media, sponsored adult and children’s programs, contributed as a major donor to the recent building renovation and expansion, and responded to special funding requests as they continue to arise.
All Whitemarsh residents and Library patrons are welcome to join the Friends of the Library. The Friends Board of Directors holds its public meetings the second Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m., September through June, and convenes its Annual Meeting in March. Click here for more information about The Friends of the Library.
Your Library Card
Whitemarsh Township residents of all ages are entitled to a library card that enables them to check out library materials from most libraries in Pennsylvania. Your library card also allows you to search the catalogs of other libraries in Montgomery County through MCLINC and access online databases such as the Pennsylvania statewide catalog, EBSCO Host, AP Photo Archive, Poem Finder and many more from the comfort of your home computer. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania provides free library and home access to these resources.
